Spring Nail Art

So, spring is coming along, and the flowers are beginning to grow, which is why I thought of doing a spring inspired design. I chose to accent my nails, rather than do all of them, because I think the design looks weird if its repeated over and over again. I used an emerald green, as it is the color of the year, according to Pantone, but you can choose any color green you like!

What you need:
- toothpick / striper
- dotting tool / hair pins
- white, green and yellow polish ( I used ANNY green racing drag, P2 summer to go!, and Orly white).

This I how you create the design:
1) Apply one or two layers of green nail polish, depending on how opaque your polish is, and let it dry completely!
2) Using a dotting tool, or a hair pin, create two dots on each nail you chose to do the design on, but place the dots further apart.
3) Using a striper, or a tooth pick, drag thin, white lines toward one dot, but don't connect the lines to the dot.
4) Do the same for the other dot.
5) Let the design dry and apply your fav topcoat!

Tips and tricks:
- After applying nail polish, put your hand into cold water for a few seconds, pull them out, and put them into even cooler water for about 30 seconds, this helps the polish dry faster.

Hope you like this design, it was inspired by: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pnO2U_FnNbs. Check out her tutorials! Send me pictures at catchy.bling@gmail.com, if you try out any nail art I post! xoxo, Marethyu

Cute DIY idea :D

I'm so, so sorry! I haven't posted in such a long time, it's just that I have so much to do, I'm totally behind schedule. Anyway, the clothes I ordered have finally arrived, and I'll share an outfit I created with one of the pieces tomorrow, or on Thursday. So, the DIY, or how-to, I was thinking of doing was related to nail polish, because I love nail art, but I didn't do any, because of a lot of stuff going on..I'm thinking of doing little hearts and kiss-y lips for Valentine's day, or some Tribal or Galaxy Print themed nails, matching my dresses. I should buy clothes that match, but my closet if filled with random tribal print, edgy, girly, frilly, neutral, maritime styles, and I am totally confused on how to match this disaster.
xoxo, Marethyu (don't forget to check back for the tutorial, and the Outfit of the Day, coming up on Thursday or Friday!)

Nail Art DIY - Glitter polish.

We all know glitter polishes spice up the plain, monotone colored nail, but did you know that you can do some creative (and super stylish!) designs using glitter polishes? Here come some designs to serve you as inspiration.
First, you will need polish of any color to serve as the background (although the natural nail looks awesome too), I used OPI's Suzi & The Lifeguard, an assortment of glitter polishes, I used OPI's Serving Up Sparkle and Jafra's Love Affair, and a dotting tool (alternatively you could use bobby pins).
Nail Polishes I used.
Design 1. Bejeweled crust.
This is how it'll look.
1) Start applying nail polish just a little higher than the center of your nail, and fill in the top half your nail.
2) Use a little bit of polish and tip a triangular, lightly sparkly, design on the bottom half of your nail.

Design 2. Accent tips.
The final look.
1) Use the tip of your nail polish brush to apply glitter to the tips of your nail.
2) Apply more glitter if needed.
Or use a dotting tool to apply the polish on the tip of your nail.

Design 3. Simplicity.
1) Just pull a streak of polish, either horizontally of vertically, to create some bling without drawing too much attention.

The final look!
I applied silver and red glitter polish to my ring finger to set an accent. This is all, hope you had fun and found some inspiration. xoxo Marethyu
Ps. This would look great for Valentine's day!
